7 Remedies for a Relaxing Master Bedroom

After a long day of work full of meetings and phone calls, the first thing you want to do is relax in your stress-free master bedroom. Your master bedroom should be warm, inviting and comfortable for you to unwind in each day. Here are seven remedies for a relaxing master bedroom that will be sure to turn your bedroom into a sanctuary.

Light Paint Colors. Your walls are the largest space in your bedroom, so it's essential that they be a warm and neutral color. Since your master bedroom is a room in which relaxation is paramount, choose a light color to help create a relaxing mood and atmosphere. Beige and white colors will keep your bedroom inviting.

Comfortable Flooring. After a great night's rest, it's nice to wake up and step onto a luxurious and plush carpet. If you prefer wood flooring, make sure to layer it with an area rug to keep your bedroom relaxing and cozy.

The Perfect Mattress. After long days, your mattress becomes your best friend – so make sure it's comfortable and supportive. Add in soft bedding and fluffy pillows to accentuate your mattress so that when you are snuggled up in bed with a good book or you're ready to call it a night, your mattress suits all of your needs and relaxes you.

Sound Machine. Sound machines are relaxing whether you are taking a nap, doing yoga in your bedroom or taking a bubble bath. Sound machines can offer simulations of rain, ocean waves, the forest and other soothing and calming sounds to help you relax and block out excess noise. This is great for nights when you are having trouble sleeping.

Keep it Simple. Simplicity is simply relaxing. Make sure your décor is simple and not too cluttered to give your eyes a rest. Hang beautiful artwork on the wall of scenery you enjoy and keep other décor items to a minimum. Clutter and excess items can do the opposite of relax you – it can cause stress.

Sitting Area. A great addition to any master bedroom is a sitting area to read, unwind or have a cup of coffee in the morning. All you need is a chair, a small side table and a lamp to create a cozy place where you can relax. If you have enough space in your master bedroom, you can also add a few ottomans or a bench at the foot of the bed.

Hide Your TV. It's easier to create a relaxing retreat in your master bedroom if you don't have your laptop, TV, and other electronics. If you must have a TV, then make sure to keep it in a cabinet with doors so that you can hide it when it isn't being used.

What is your favorite way to kick back and relax in your bedroom retreat?
