Spring has Sprung at KN+S! Spring has to be the favorite season of all CPAs. It’s like we all suddenly wake up from a “zombie like” coma and have a chance to finally get outside and smell the roses again. We now have some time to reconnect with family and friends and begin the adjustment to a more normal balanced life at a much needed slower pace.
It was a fantastic busy season for KN+S this year. All of our teams worked hard to provide what was, hopefully, superb and timely service for all of you. It is amazing that in this day and age, CPAs must still perform about 60% of our yearly workload in about 3 months. The firm overall completed about 68% of our individual 1040 and partnership returns. Overall, the firm completed just over 66% of all types of returns. Hopefully those still waiting for information over the coming months will get us their last few pieces so it’s not too busy for us in September and October.
The KN+S audit department continues to be quite busy. In fact, I believe we are kicking off over 10-15 engagements in the next few weeks alone. I’m not so sure there is a lack of a “busy season” anymore at any CPA firm.
The Tax Reform Act that passed quickly right at year end has provided many opportunities and ideas over the coming months for us all to discuss. Whether you are considering changing your corporate form, how the 20% flow through deduction can work for your S corporation or partnership, or just how much less you will owe personally in 2018 due to the law changes, there is no doubt you will all be affected at some level. Look for more KN+S seminars over the summer months on these topics as well as other important items to keep you up to date.
We look forward to the warm upcoming weather and also speaking with you soon to discuss planning opportunities for both 2018 and beyond. Have an enjoyable spring.
Jeff
