The Cost of Housing Around the World

Cities around the globe have varying housing costs. While you may score a beautiful and spacious two-bedroom condo in Atlanta for $1,100/month, you won't find that kind of luxury in New York, where the average cost of living is much higher and the square footage is much lower. Let's take a dive into the cost of housing around the globe, so that you can put into perspective just how much bang you can get for your buck when it comes to housing expenses.

Los Angeles
Full of celebrities, rock stars and aspiring models, this city is one of the most expensive places to live in the United States. The average two-bedroom condo will cost you around $2,500/month, not including utilities. LA is one of the most attractive spots for tourists and those who want to bask in the warmer weather, so real estate is a hot commodity.

Toronto
If you are looking to head north to Canada and land a two-bedroom apartment in Toronto, you will pay an average of $1,288/month. The cost of living in this area is much lower than in cities like Los Angeles and New York. Toronto has been voted countless times as one of the best places to live in the world, but it is one of the most expensive cities in Canada.

Sydney, Australia
Ready to head to the land down under? Be prepared to pay at least $2,000 per month to rent a two-bedroom apartment. Sydney is the ninth-most expensive place to live in the world, but people are attracted to living in this area for its beaches, incredible weather and other interesting sites.

Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand is one of the least expensive places to live in the world. Just $820 a month will land you a two-bedroom apartment in this exciting city full of history and culture. According to Numbeo, the cost of living in Thailand is 49.72 percent lower than it is in New York City.

Athens, Greece
One of the most breathtaking places in the world, Athens is also a very affordable city to live in. The average cost for a two-bedroom apartment in Greece is only $740/month. You can live in one of the most beautiful places in the world that overlooks miles of endless ocean for a fraction of what it would cost in many other major cities. Athens ranks as one of the least expensive cities to rent an apartment in, and with all that the city has to offer, you may not find yourself sitting at home that often!

What city surprises you most by its cost of housing?
